New Braille Writers

There are several new braille writers available for students with visual impairments. The Braille'n'speak is helpful to students with multiple disabilities. It is also helpful to students who have low vision who will become blind overtime. Students with low vision can look at the braille configurations as they are displayed. It also offers audio input of what letters or words were typed by the users.
The Next Generation Braille Writer has a tray that makes it easier to load the paper. It also requires the user to exert less pressure on the keys. Additionally, this braille writer has an eraser.

IPAD for Students with Visual Impairments

The IPAD is a wonderful tool for students with visual impairments. It is a mainstream piece of technology. The IPAD enables students with visual impairments to feel as if they are the coolest kids in the room. They do not resist using the technology. This mentality enables students to gain access to the information that they need.

Technology for the Visually Impaired

There is a lot of technology available for students with visual impairments. It is important for professionals in the field to understand what options students have available to them. The most important function of technology for the visually impaired is to create access and independence. It is important for parents to be aware of the technology and how to use it. This will enable students to use their technology-based devices at home. Some examples of technology for children with visual impairments are the CCTV and the JAWS computer program.
